33.Baby.Fels.First.Party

This week was a super exciting one – Baby Fels had his/her first party where so many family & friends turned up to celebrate the little bundle to be and you could feel and see that they are so loved already. Yes Mama Ash had her baby shower and it was absolutely beautiful and I had the BEST afternoon!

This comes down to my beautiful family for planning it all out and the caker (now party planner boss babe) @justjesscakeco aka my little sister for leading the charge. It couldn’t have been more perfect, I am so thankful for all the work she put in with my mummy, nana & mummy-in-law (THANKYOU!).

We had it at the Waitakere Domain Hall and it was of course themed grey, white & silver – We had stunning balloon garlands, selfie stations, a grazing table and of course a famous Just Jess cake and even better a new product of hers (check it ouuuut) a donut wall and OMG I was so happy when there was a few left at the end for me to take home haha! But even the teeny details had been thought of with personalized Baby Fels chocolates as take homes, lots of olives & gherkins (I eat these every week hahaha) and a chillybin which had of course grape juice for this pregnant mama but also the sneaky coke cans (she knows me so well haha).

We had an afternoon with all the ladies in our life celebrating and then Nic and the boys of the family joined us after a couple of beers and the driving range to open presents and of course eat some of the amazing cake haha! I loved having them join us as I have always had a vision of not having it solely girls as Nic played a part in making this bebe (quite a big part really haha) and he should get to experience the celebrations too! We were super spoilt with amazing gifts and thank you all so much. It was after everyone had said goodbye and we had packed everything away that I took a step back and looked around (It went so fast!) and my heart was 100% full – Having the afternoon end walking to the car hand in hand with Nic after celebrating our little family to be and seeing our families smiling and waving goodbye I became another level of excited to become a mum and bring a beautiful life into this world I am so lucky to be a part of surrounded by people that make it what it is. You know just that overwhelming feeling of your chest filling up with happiness like it could explode?? (Soz emosh AF haha). Anyway THE BEST day (Nic might have a slight differed opinion after losing his wallet & phone off the back of the ute haha!).

Last week we started our antenatal classes (hence why this week’s entry is a day delayed!) and to be honest like most boys I got the feeling Nic wasn’t that thrilled to have to go to baby school for 6 weeks haha! To learn about something their minds probably try to not indulge in too much detail over. But safe to say majority of other males at these classes are in the EXACT same state of mind haha. We came out of there after the first two sessions having learnt a heap and it actually is super interesting and awesome chatting to other parents to be at a similar stage to you.

Highlights have included Nic having to wear the pregnant belly (12kgs so not even what I am going through haha but a taste babe!) and try and live with a bump, the best call was he now understands why I sit with my legs wide like a male on the couch to not squish my belly and why back massages feel so good (try 8 months babe not 1.5 hours haha!). Secondly was the practical of how to change a nappy which all the males in the room had to complete super cute to watch! And then the main concern or question being “How do we make sure we don’t break the baby” :P

Some more things that I have enjoyed discussing and learning details about are the different forms of inductions and the birthing process in general – I find comfort in knowing all options and procedures that are on the table even if they are not areas that I would ideally like to explore further or utilize. The information they give you about the hospitals you are birthing at is also super helpful (Like how would we ever know where to park when your delivering a women in actual labour haha!?) so I am looking forward to next week already. Plus there are some awesome people there and yummy chocolate biscuits haha!

We are lucky enough to have two beautiful couples in our life that have been beside us through our whole journey to becoming a family to date and we know they are not going anywhere in our future (your stuck with us haha!) so we wanted to show them how much they mean to us and will mean to Baby Fels when they enter this world (let’s face it this mama wouldn’t have survived the last few years still sane without these gals) so I made some little boxes which I delivered to their work reception to ask them to be our babies god parents (baby Fels is super lucky and will have two sets hehe). Of course my sister baked some custom made biscuits for me to help do the job haha! How cute are these!?

This week was full speed but just perfect and just like that another one is gone and we hit week 34! Can this belly even physically stretch anymore!? Guess we will see haha!

Side notes this week:

- Sore pelvis is an understatement the last couple of days I have had some intense pelvis pain to the point where I was going to call my sister to help me get out of bed one morning but proceeded to roll myself into a heap on the floor and get to all fours from there haha! Also means I can barely walk or waddle it’s more a drag my feet along the ground lol - Amber help me what can I do to ease this haha? (Text going out as we speak).

- Nose bleeds have kicked up a notch due to body temp raising – I AM SO BLOODY HOT ALL THE TIME! I leant over one morning to unload the dishwasher and my floor and washer ended up blood splattered ugh

- Mum & Dad were up this weekend for the baby shower so we spent Saturday avo/evening with them also and started the task of washing all the baby clothes & swaddles to prepare for the wee ones arrival (next on the list once I’m off work is prepping that hospital bag!)

- I have been writing official handovers for my clients at work as I officially only have 3 days before I depart my second home to officially be on maternity leave eeek!
